Pretty happy with my first attempt at this scale. I feel it still needs some tinkering done but overall pretty good!
My first use of Vallejo paints as well. Love those dropper bottles!

Ansgar the Staller - The eyes
After doing a bit of research and watching/reading some tutorials on the web I had a bash at painting his eyes.
I am extremely happy with my first attempt at eyes on this scale. My first attempt at doing decent eyes on any scale really.
Some things I noted:

Some things I noted:
- Don't use white as the base coat, a bone colour or similar is best.
- Do wash that colour with a 10:1 ish crimson. Concentrate on the corners of the eyes.
- Do use black for the whole pupil.
- Paint over this with e.g. black or blue, then paint back in a pupil, I'm assuming darker colours of eyes are easier.
- A little touch of pure white as a reflection works as well.
- Do paint in the parts where the eyelid meets the eye. Brown for the bottom eyelid and black for the top.
All I really need to do now is put some gloss varnish on the eyes.

My Arms hurt...
Had a good stab at checking all my paints. added water when necessary and putting in my little mixer balls if there was not already one present oh and shaking... a lot.... All of the paints have held up really well. Games Workshop must really be making some progress with the paints. I am sure they would have dried up a bit in this length of time in the past.
I have a fair few paints as you can see in the picture below :)
Going to take an inventory of all my stuff. I forgot I have a whole drawer full of modelling stuff I had half forgotten about.

Oberyn Martell's Surcoat
Evening,
some work done on the cloak - not sure the front especially looks right, not enough depth, need to either deepen shadows or lighten the highlights?
looking over the pics again I think it might be a bit of both with more deepening of shadows on the front.

Orc Armour & Skaven basecoat
Started basecoating the orc armour, thin layer of metallic paint there... the metallic paints are so much better if applied slightly thinned, negates the need for drybrushing a lot of the time in my book.
Also a quick basecoat on the skaven dude. (picture below shows paints I plan to use for reference)
Knarloc green looks nothing like that pot through, dark pigment stuck on the sides no matter how much I shake it!
Felt great to paint something quickly, I think I got a pretty accurate basecoat on it as well.
I have also taken a picture of the light reflecting off the shoulders for reference later in highlighting.

Orc Skin, almost there
Quite a bit of work tonight on the skin of the Orc, I just need to wash it with brown and green, not sure if separate or all green then a targeted brown...
Looking much more dynamic now I reckon... lots of pictures.
good guide for painting eyes :http://cmdante.blogspot.co.uk/2009/11/eyes-have-it-how-to-paint-eyes-on.html

Dark Elf on Cold One - more basecoats and washes
Just a short session today... not really in the mood...
I drybrushed the scales/body gnarloc green then did a thin green wash over the top.
I painted the underbelly calthan brown as well for some silly reason, I meant to do a brown-green like gretchin but I painted it brown!!! (easy fixed)
No wonder I was struggling to work out where scales end and hide starts if I was putting two such radically different colours next to each other. Knarloc and gretchin are much closer so wont be a prob.
So next update the scales will be the same but a lot more of the flesh will be gretchin... what a fanny!
some pics: you can see the brown right on to green is a baaad idea! at least the scales are getting some depth (check top pic)
also I let another person know the existence of this blog last night, woohoo!
