Bit of white.

Added some skull white highlighting. Looks poo on these closeups, much more appealing at range. I need to tidy up vents with a smidge of devlan mud maybe... also do some tidying, trying to resist the urge to glaze the whole thing in maybe Sepia again, very watered down glaze..

next is probably basecoating the armour plates and the bone claws. 50/50 black and scab red... Bone claws I might do grey, then wash black and work from there. They need to contrast with the flesh so cant really do them bone. Maybe a scorched black bone.

Bone time...

This is quite thinned down bleached bone, just working in thin layers until it brightens up...

Next up is a very thin layer of selective skull white... steady as she goes and all that

50/50....

Here is the application of 50/50 Bleached bone and bubonic brown as promised.

Highlights stage 2

I am now highlighting selectively (ish) quite hevily to be honest, a thinned bubonic brown (I am trying to make my way towards bleached bone here... I am thinking 50/50 bubonic and bleached bone then onto bleached bone with selective skull white for completion but we shall see..... I know the photographs need some work, the lighting is shocking.

50/50 pt1

50/50 Bubonic and Vomit brown. I am thinning my paints using Tamiya Acrylic thinner. It allows you to paint multiple layers without getting that "chalkyness" to the paint, it also allows you to gradually build up the colour.

second ink wash.

As it says on the tin, second ink wash. Just getting used to these new washes, you can be quite heavy handed it seems. I now have to decide colours for highlighting the flesh up...

Priming and washes

using these new Citadel washes for this (gryphonne Sepia) which seem to be like the old inks but watered down a lot, I will be adding a second wash.

Tyranid Trygon

The first model I have attempted to paint in over 5 years!

Stage 1: Assembly. Bit of a PITA to get this one together, top claws were rough!

Quite a few mold lines which I had a go at filing, that made a difference, some gaps which should be filled with greenstuff but I am not going to bother this time around. Very impressed with modern multi part plastic kit from GW, claws are razor sharp!

poor quality picture sorry!

The colour scheme? some kind of sandy bone concoction, with a feathered or layered carapace of dark dark red to a fiery red.....
