Dark Elf on Cold One - more basecoats and washes

Just a short session today... not really in the mood...

I drybrushed the scales/body gnarloc green then did a thin green wash over the top.

I painted the underbelly calthan brown as well for some silly reason, I meant to do a brown-green like gretchin but I painted it brown!!! (easy fixed)

No wonder I was struggling to work out where scales end and hide starts if I was putting two such radically different colours next to each other. Knarloc and gretchin are much closer so wont be a prob.

So next update the scales will be the same but a lot more of the flesh will be gretchin... what a fanny!

some pics: you can see the brown right on to green is a baaad idea! at least the scales are getting some depth (check top pic)

also I let another person know the existence of this blog last night, woohoo!

Dark Elf Lord on Cold One - Basecoats pt3 | Wash Pt1

Done a bit more work tonight, Devlan mud wash with a black wash to come after that. Also did some more boltgun detail work.

Just wondering on the chainmail, I blobbed on some chainmail in the hopes a wash/drybrush would finish it off instead of just going to drybrush, could have been a mistake but can still reverse it!(second pic down)

skink - staff - claws

Hello,

Will finish this tomorrow night for sure.

Quick explanation of things done tonight: basecoat and wash of claws done, orb done (quite proud of that, need to put gloss varnish on it) and staff done. Not totally sure I hit the nail on the head with the staff but............ pretty much made a pact not to go over and re-do anything.

Considering adding a little bit of a brighter colour on the end of the staff, its meant to be OSL............(first attempt, definitely will look good as verdigris for later models.)

Really just need to complete the claws and varnish the orb/do the base then its done!!

90% sure it will be the mounted dark elf who is next up, planning on some brass/gold armour and a red cloak? might abandon the brass idea depending on how brave I feel when I come to do it.

Skink - Cloak + details

Hello,

Only got the staff/orb/nails to do really on this guy.

made myself a palette from a white tile with some kitchen paper glued to the back....

the yellow is overexposed in the pics :( happy with the way it is turning out. especially happy with the green on the cloak!

Even managed to do a passable eye, dropped black ink in the socket, then painted the eyeball!

Teeth were kinda dry brushed bone, then painted white with a devlan mud wash to hide my messiness.

Skink - cloak - green - done

Hello,

Put an hour-ish in tonight. Alfred the great has set up his Burhs, knocking the vikings for six.

Oh and I did some painting. Finished the green bit on the cloak. My eyes are burning, got hardly any sleep last night!

It is goblin green, scorpion green and golden yellow mix :) (pics are finished product at top, then down stage by stage) top pic is bottom pic + wash or two of green.
