Spent ages on finishing off Marneus' cloak tonight.
It is finally done. Colours involved: black, blazing orange, blood red and scab red.
I'll let the pictures speak for themselves on the process:

Marneus Calgar Cont'd... Plus basing materials
Good evening,
Work continues apace (kinda) on Marneus.
I have used a leather colour on the strips that hold the ultramarines symbols around his waist. Added in some green details, I decided on that colour for the tassels to go with the green detailing on the shoulder pads.
Yeah...tassels... I know, not very butch.. meh.
Also washed that brown colour with agrax earthshade and detailed some more gold on the sword and shaded with the same.
A blue wash has been added to the white details as well.
Getting near to the point where I can no longer put off starting to highlight the cloak and armour. Once that is done things will really fall into place.
I also took delivery of my big basing materials pack which I snagged from eBay. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I think it is 21+ bags of different gubbins.
Some of the stuff looks the same but it is just a similar shade really.
Bonus picture of my basing materials drawer... I have a prep/paint additives drawer and two little paint drawers :D

200TH POST!!! | Marneus Calgar... green/white details, blacking out etc...
Welcome to my 200th blog post. that's approximately 0.005 of a post per day for a couple of years lol.
It contains some more work on Marneus Calgar,
It contains some more work on Marneus Calgar,
- Skin wash - Ratskin flesh and reikland flesh shade are ideal for the skin. Probably the best colours I have used ever for skin... famous last words...
- blacking out metal details... exciting stuff...... still makes the model look a bit sharper and more complete.
- white details - hate doing these, quite a few layers of progressively thinned paint till it covers. :)
- green details - couple of wreathes, one on his shoulder pad and one on is shin.
The wash has brought down the shine from the gold (thank God) I don't want to muck around with the nice matte finish too much if I can help it.
Anyway coming together nicely I just cant wait to get the armour and cloak highlighted then we will really be cooking with gas. Should be some time for some painting as well.
Oh and a package arrived... I think it is my massive basing materials pack! Wait 'till you see the state of this! bargain!

Marneus Calgar & Tomb King Skin & Gold
Slight design change on the blog, I really like the tag cloud :) which didn't show on the old magazine type design.
I have done some work on Marneus today, and put together my tomb king.
His face has been base coated, I think ratskin flesh basecoat looks amazing. The snakebite leather has been covered with shining gold, this will then be washed with sepia and highlighted with a combination of burnished gold and mythril silver.
So far: happy :) and the tomb king was only £3.50!
...loving my new palette!!

My miniature display case | iPhone 5 panorama
I have taken a couple of pictures trying to get a panorama view of my miniature display case...
It hasn't turned out all that great if I am honest... I need more practice at holding my hand steady!! Yeah I know my reflection is in it as well, also please ignore the bedclothes, random bit of driftwood, crap PC games and RJ45 cable.....
A depressing view of my lack of painting.

New purchases and the White Dwarf 30th Anniversary miniature
Another little update.
I have been up late tonight getting through my backlog of miniature assembly (probably procrastinating from painting again...)
Anyway I think I have assembled everything I have so far except the tyranid, which I am going to have to convert using the plastic hive tyrant legs pictured below. The seller sent a metal OOP set instead but once I brought it to their attention they sent out the correct legs free of charge, so now I have both!
Some other purchases have arrived... namely a couple of snazzy new plastic palettes, a rather nice finecast dwarf standard bearer (look at how crisp that finecast is and a set of five corks.
I plan to either use the corks to mount miniatures on when priming/painting or to break up for scenery or maybe dig chunks out once a completed mini is attached for a rocky base... or to give a cutaway effect...
... all eBay specials!
When it comes to some actual work... I have already mentioned putting together a lot of stuff. I completed both Kingdom Death miniatures and they are pictured below. Also put the giant on his base and completed the 30th anniversary model. I now remember why I bought it, so damn cool!!
