Another big shiney package!
pics below!
Such a lot of kit for 45 quid. Free next day courier from Ebay as well. Just look at all the terrain you get!
Also fleet pics as promised. The manta is basically just hobby porn. A Skaven for scale there.
I wanted to get something more productive done today but the manta took a lot more filing etc... work than I had imagined (and I imagined a lot)

Green knight assembly pt2 + Forgeworld Battlefleet Gothic Tau
My Forgeworld goodie pack finally arrived. It is a full FW Tau fleet (and an epic 40k Tau Manta)
How awesome is it they give you an actual paper catalogue? definitely handy as their website is absolutely crap, worse than Games Workshop main site which is saying something.
Also 12% postage for second class? you do get some fancy bubble wrap I have never seen before right enough but that hardly justifies it!
Loads of pics below. (hopefully some random desperate for up close honest picture of Forge world kit sees this) I know I found a distinct lack of it in my travels.
I also applied the first layer of liquid green stuff then smoothed it out on the knight as well as pinning (with the drill and a snipped section of paperclip) the horses foot to the cobbled base.
Loads of cutting snipping sanding and slicing done tonight with 99% of the work done on putting together the fleet.
Should have a fleet picture up ready tomorrow. Consists of 1 BS, 4 cruisers, 6 frigate type things and a 8 escorts. I am so tempted to glue 3 escorts to the Custodian undercarriage.
The forgeworld kits, especially the Manta, need a lot of cleaning up, definitely advanced assembly! although the finer details really are nice.

Green knight - Assembly
Assembly work is underway.
Some picture below of using greenstuff to plug most of the gap. Once that has cured I will use liquid greenstuff to fill the gaps completely and then sand it off.
Should look good as there is just one short run of the crack that can be seen once the knight is mounted.

Repairs completed
Finally got these repaired and (I hope) firmly glued in place. Also made a couple more holders for models when painting. Aint I clever!
Crappy Games workshop water pots good for something anyway.
I think I am going to build the green knight tonight........
I was bidding on a Forgeworld wight standard bearer on Ebay. The bidding was a couple of quid off the cost of getting it BRAND NEW for forgeworld. Why are people obsessed with buying on ebay to the point of paying more than retail price?
I might have ordered dreadfleet for £45, better than original price of £70..... so much stuff for 45............. and I love the ships!

| Focus is on the Skaven in the background I know, no pulitzer for me :( |
Superglue problems & Guide washes...
Tried a little guide wash to bring out the details on a white undercoat. All worked well, especially on the dwarf from Scibor.
Also bought some resin bases from ebay (couple of quid for 5) pretty cool looking. I will use them to base the green knight.
Problems began when I tried the guide wash on the dark sword GoT ones... I think the super glue I have been using is fecked. It was always very thick but the minis kind of came apart in my hand...
anyway pound shop type place to the rescue! load of superglue bought until I can get some new decent stuff. I bought 1000 tubes because 1. it's cheap and 2. you just know they are one use and straight in the bin jobbies.

Another Skaven highlight update.
All 15 Skaven models have now had the first highlight stage done (reapplication of basecoat really)
Some pictures attached - Also a closeup of the cairn wraith fully repaired. I am very happy with how much better it looks, I could arguably continue and do some more but meh. Happy! that sandpaper is a bloody godsend, I bought it months ago but didn;t bother to use, it is great for smoothing out plastic/resin/metal.

The Green Knight
Got myself rather a good bargain off Ebay.
Metal version of the Green Knight for 6 Quid, better than the fine cast £20+ from GW. (no base included but I have a few scenic cavalry bases on order.
It has given me a chance to try out my new metal preparation regime, got the inspiration from this web page: http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.co.uk/2009/11/tutorial-how-to-prepare-metal-miniature.html
His English isn't so good but excellent article nonetheless.
Before and after pictures below as well as the tools of my trade. 600p silica paper or whatever it is as well as some steel wool (yucky stuff but it works.)
Top picture explains lack of recent updates, bit of a leak in the upstairs bathroom!! the ceiling came in during the night.............
I plan to steal some rubber gloves from work to use when priming so I can get a better coverage.
Also recently made a massive new purchase which should arrive tomorrow or the next day!

Skaven washes and gap filling
I have finished basecoating and washed all the Skaven. (finally) Also used a lighter touch with the shading
Also took some pictures of the Wight to try and show how well the gap filling has gone, its still there but has been drastically reduced.
I got my hands on some steel wool and im going to start doing a lot more prep on metal models in the future.
I bought the green knight off ebay for a fiver (metal) so can try out the cleanup techniques on him!
