Orc Skin, almost there

Quite a bit of work tonight on the skin of the Orc, I just need to wash it with brown and green, not sure if separate or all green then a targeted brown...

Looking much more dynamic now I reckon... lots of pictures.

Human skin notes

base: dheneb stone

shades: warlock purple and charadon granite?

tone: bhaal red and devlan mud + matt medium

highlights: two ish layers of watered dheneb + increasing amounts of white.  (areas to focus upon are the brow, tip of the nose, tops of the cheeks and the tip of the chin.)

application:  In order to replicate the translucent qualities of real human skin, the shades and highlights are best applied in very thin layers. Thin the paint until it is almost was like in consistency, get some on your brush, then dab the side of the brush lightly against a tissue a few times until most of the moisture is removed and then apply.

Small update (really need to get my arse in gear and do more painting so there is actually a discernible difference between posts..... !

Some more purchases

I bought Prince Oberyn & Ser Gregor Clegane from Dark Sword miniatures on a bit of a whim, arrived from the US today.

They are really fine miniatures, extremely detailed, some components quite bent in the blister pack though which is annoying but I can always straighten. (Oberyn's spear was almost bent double, Gregor's sword was bent)

Check how fine the mail is, also a nice touch that Gregors scabbard is a separate piece to be stuck on, although a stiff breeze will bend Oberyn's spear so I will have to watch!

Not much done tonight,

re-added some snot green to the skin, then just started adding goblin green on the face. also picture of dry wash is included.

Will work up goblin with bleached bone then green wash it methinks. maybe another targetted brown wash, not too sure... slightly worried he's a bit too green........ if that is possible.

Orc Skin

Bit of work on the skin tonight, added some snot green to the basecoat then a thin wash of gryphonne sepia, not totally sure where I'm going with this, either quite a bleached boney type green then washed back to be more green or something else............

 but we will see!

Looking a lot more green anyway, I'll add a shot of the wash when dry tomorrow.  First picture gives a before and after of snot green.

Skaven Plague Monks planning

Working on a painting plan for the Plague Monks

Cloak: dark, mid and light green**, ogryn flesh wash

Skin: Tallarn Flesh - ogryn flesh wash - triad of flesh colours, dwarf, elf, something else?

Bindings: calthan brown - ogryn flesh wash - dheneb stone.

Metal: calthan brown - ogryn flesh wash - stippling rust brown colour* - stippled/drybrush chainmail

Wood/parchment: Calthan Brown - ogryn flesh wash

Haven't been idle.... (100th Post!!!!)

Made some purchases recently.

* basing kit (warhammer variant)
* grass tuft things
* Eavy metal brush set (really nice)
*Unit of skaven plague monks, you dont half get a lot of spare stuff in the box set! (I plan to time myself while painting them and see what I can do speed/standard wise)

So I've mostly been snipping, filing, gluing, basecoating.....

The base colour is not snot green as is in the background, its actually gnarloc green, christ that shows how overexposed the shots are...

Green Glorious Green. AKA Orc Skin...

Just having a scout around on the internet for some methods of painting greenskin.

There are a huge amount of different methods including one crazy (but fast and effective) white undercoat then 95% wash, 5% drybrush method. Insane amount of greenskin painting tips out there,

few different options (below), I'll probably use a mix of them all.
