Sorted out his base, pretty proud of it!
I chopped off the slotta from his feet. Used milliput / super glue to stick down a couple of bits of slate. Then glued his feet back on to the slate with super glue and a tiny blob of milliput.
The plan is to make it blue ice/snow. I will use my crushed glass mixed with water effects to get a snow look :)
I have gone with GW recommended ultramarines colours. I will end up putting my own spin on it I think.

Marneus Calgar Notes
http://taleofpainters.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/tutorial-painting-ultramarines-stahly.html
Asurmen blue + badab black wash
- Basecoat is a 50:50 mixture of Chaos black and regal blue
- Armor color is a 50:50 mixture of regal blue and ultramarines blue
- First highlight with pure ultramarine blue (thinned down with water)
- second highlight is a 50:50 mixture of ultramarines blue and space wolves grey
The result is a "flowing" color progress: chaos black<-> regal blue -> regal blue<->ultramarines blue->ultramarines blues->ultramarines blue<->space wovles grey.
Game of Thrones Base + next project.
I have applied the washes as mentioned in the last post to the base. I drybrushed all of the stone up through dheneb stone and white. (same with the urn) The wood had some more of the brown colour with a bit of snakebite leather on top before a pure devlan mud wash.
next project will be marneus calgar, he narrowly beat out the nurgle champ!
Just in case you did not know who he is Marneus Augustus Calgar
TL:DR (hard as ****)

Game of Thrones - base
This is my attempt at a base to place my two Game of Thrones chaps on. It is the fight between the mountain and oberyn martell (3rd book IIRC)
Drybrushing only at this stage, 3 flavours - pot/wood/stone.
Washes and lots of drybrushing will make it look a lot more natural. Thinking black wash for the pot, greeny/browny/black wash for the wall and a blacky/browny wash for the floor.
I know it looks more outdoor than indoor and the wall looks a bit funky sitting there but sue me it's my first big base. Looks pretty awesome already IMO.
really like the job I did of the brown on the characters bases, refreshing to see it smooth instead of sand/gravel.
Looking over those pictures now I maybe should have gone Terra-cota for the big pot..... but it is a nice contrast.

Oberyn Martell - Completed
OK he is 99% done.
A lot of work was done on the surcoat and I'm now pretty happy with it. I also gave him leather shoes (aint I kind), finished off all other bits and bobs.

Oberyn Martell's Surcoat
Evening,
some work done on the cloak - not sure the front especially looks right, not enough depth, need to either deepen shadows or lighten the highlights?
looking over the pics again I think it might be a bit of both with more deepening of shadows on the front.
