Skaven basecoat batch 2
Bit more work on the second batch of skaven and their basecoats.
Unfortunately it looks like grimgors base, in particular the water effects is looking a bit dodgy. It seems to have frosted up somehow, I'll get a pic of that next time but it still looks OK.
Quite disappointing though.

Basing
Literally 20-30 mins spent doing some base work.
First the skaven, the textured paint is now dry. I washed it with devlan mud then I drybrushed a bit of bestial brown then terminatus stone dry paint.
Decided to run a test on myultra matt medium by adding it 50/50 into black and edge the bases. I took a picture of the result and it looks really good!
Grimgor, I devlan mud washed the sand (probably to be painted over later but the wash helps fix the sand to the base) Also painted the stone bits codex grey.
The water was painted with the four colours pictured and turned out really good. Tried to make it look deeper as it was getting to the edge and it actually doesn't look absolutely pants which surprised me!
few layers of water effects should make it look nice. Also painted my home made reed things. Pics!

Grimgor Ironhide - Basing | Skaven - First rank completed!
Not at work today so have been doing some bits and bobs during the day.
I finished (most last night with some more work today) Decided to do my own larger base for him for a laugh, using some basing materials, (sand, green stuff, bristles from an old brush, basing kit resin part, water effects, bits of slate etc...) Looks OK so far I think. Removed the shilds from under his foot and propped him up on the resin scenery, never really like that bit.
Decided to use some new weird colours for the skin on the empire guys head. It has ended up looking like his head has been detached for quite a while, no bad thing! The base is supposed to look like Grimgor shouting insults over a river and considering lobbing one of the empire's own back over the river at them.
I have finished the first 5 skaven, should start doing these quicker now as grimgor is coming to and end. My first shot of the new textured paint as well, it is pretty nifty! I am going to use a dry paint as well to finish the bases off. Saves faffing about with sand!
Still waiting for my magnetic stuff to arrive but they did say it had shipped so can start having some fun with that when it arrives.

Grimgor Ironhide Orc Rust, Verdigris, leather etc...
Some verdigris/rust weathering on all the metal tonight. I think it makes things look a lot better. I am currently debating the method and whether I should add battle damage or not...
Also pretty much completed the leather straps and buckles on his arms. Started some work on his gums/tongue. also basecoated a few trinkets and icons that are hanging off him.
Oh and his right hand, I decided to go with a black plate. looks quite nifty.
Some nice shots of the leather bags he has as well.
Once I have completed that pesky head he should be good to go.

Back to Mr Grimgor Ironhide
Every part of the model has at least a basecoat now (not including the empire soldiers head)
Got to finish all the bone details, the leather around the sword hilt, and some other details. Not to much more to go.
